I know as a journalist you’re not supposed to openly root for teams and clubs.
But since I am a blogger – perhaps I can get away with a little of it. I can’t say that I’m openly rooting for any side to get relegated – well except for Manchester United of course.
And while Aston Villa fans might not agree with me on this one – I am hoping that Birmingham City can stay above the drop zone (like they are now) and give us at least one more season of the Birmingham derby.
I love that derby. The venom and disgust between both teams is genuine and reminds me of a few of the best college football rivalries here in the States.
Only it needs Birmingham to stay up for it to continue.
They’ve only picked up five points in their last six, but that’s more than Sunderland, Fulham and Derby County have scored.
Birmingham City will need a good push to the finish to stay up – but it’s my first 2008 wish that they get it done.
For no other reason than I love the Birmingham derby.
